Meet the author of Nevada and the zines The Fact That It’s Funny Doesn’t Make It A Joke and Stereotype Threat. Imogen Binnie’s work has been anthologized in The Collection: Short Fiction from the Transgender Vanguard, released in Fall 2012. She is currently a monthly contributor to Maximum Rocknroll and has previously written for Aorta Magazine, The Skinny and PrettyQueer.com. She writes about books at keepyourbridgesburning.com.

Imogen Binnie, author, activist, and musician is releasing her
first novel, Nevada, with Topside Press this Spring. She’s on tour, and reading from ‘Nevada’ in Phoenix! ‘Nevada’ is the darkly comedic story of Maria Griffiths, a young trans woman living in New York City and trying to stay true to her punk values while working retail. When she finds out her girlfriend has lied to her, the world she thought she’d carefully built for herself begins to unravel, and Maria sets out on a journey that will most certainly change her forever.

About the Imogen Binnie:

Imogen Binnie is the author of the zines The Fact That It’s Funny Doesn’t Make It A Joke and Stereotype Threat. Additionally, her work has been anthologized in The Collection: Short Fiction from the Transgender Vanguard, released in Fall 2012. She is currently a monthly contributor to Maximum Rocknroll and has previously written for Aorta Magazine, The Skinny and PrettyQueer.com. She writes about books atwww.keepyourbridgesburning.com. Nevada is her first novel.

Rocket is a graduate student in Gender and Women’s Studies at the U of A, working with/on/in trans- embodiment, affect theory, photography, and performance studies. Rocket has always attempted to traverse the spaces between performance, academia, and activism, including a couple of years touring as a spokenword poet in Athens Boys Choir.

TC Tolbert is a genderqueer, feminist poet and teacher committed to social justice. TC is Assistant Director of Casa Libre en la Solana, adjunct instructor at University of Arizona and Pima Community College, and wilderness instructor at Outward Bound. Co-editor, along with Tim Trace Peterson, of the forthcoming Troubling the Line: Trans and Genderqueer Poetry and Poetics (Nightboat Books, March 2013), TC has two chapbooks: spirare (Belladonna* 2012) and territories of folding (Kore Press 2011). His work won the Arizona Statewide Poetry Competition in 2010 and his first full length collection, Gephyromania, is forthcoming from Ahsahta Press. S/he is the creator of Made for Flight, a youth empowerment project that utilizes creative writing and kite building to commemorate murdered transgender people and to dismantle homophobia and transphobia.www.tctolbert.com
